2001 Grand Marquis
I'm trying to track down code P0443,
how exactly do I test voltage at the solenoid, the one under back of car by vapor canisters.
I removed the wiring connector and placed the leads from my voltage tester
in the connector, red tester lead to red wire and black lead (-) to purple wire,
turned key on and nothing, 0 volts, started car, same test, same results.
Does the black lead from my tester go into connector OR should I just ground it
to frame/body.
When should there be battery voltage present at this connector?

Also does anyone know what the ohms are supposed to be on the solenoid itself?

Thanks

I believe that is the code I got when I over filled the gas tank on my 2004 Grand Marquis. I would suggest you get a Haynes Repair Manual and also Google "obd2 p0443. I hope that helps.

Do a Google search for "Code 0443" and see what others have learned about this code and their solutions.

I once had a code for a bad O2 sensor. After my Google search, it turned out to be a vacuum leak. I found the vacuum leak, repaired it with $1 of vacuum hose, cleared the code, and it never happened again. I prefer to pay $1 than the $89.99 PLUS AutoZone wanted.

There are specific procedures for testing some of the solenoids and you really need a manual for the tests. Get a copy of the Haynes or Chilton manual for your vehicle, and look for the procedures in there. You can also try a Google search on "how to test *** solenoid"
