Hi. This morning I started up my 2003 Crown Vic P71 with 105,000 miles. Runs great! 10 minutes later I went to leave for work and the inside of the car was just warm, it continued to stay only warm on the way to work. It usually gets a lot warmer than it was. The engine seemed to stay cooler than usual as well, I would say around 165 degrees. The heater and engine stayed the same temp the whole way to work (30-40 minute drive). I stayed \\\\\\"warm\\\\\\", but the fan was turned on high the whole time, which is unusual. Today wasn\\\\\\'t too cold, but the weather is going to get much colder in the next couple months. Somebody please help me out.
Thank you,
Ryan |

Try replacing the temperature control unit switch next to the fan control. Sometimes these go bad and won't adjust properly.

If the engine is cooler I would try the thermostat. If the engine was the same temp as always but the environmental air was cooler I would look at something control related. Hope it is not the heater core. Heard tell that is a job and a half!

There is a baffel that controls the mixture of outside air with the air that goes through the heating core... appears to be like it's stuck in the open place... I don't think its easy to DIY so you should contact some expert. Good Luck.... |

If your heat gauge is not up to where it runs at normally then you are lucky because this is easy to fix. If its the heater blend motor its going to be involved. Try taking a piece of cardboard and cutting it to fit in front of your radiator but cut a 12in square out of the center to allow some air to pass. If the thermostat is stuck open your temp should come back up to where it was or higher. do not block it off completely. Keep a check on the heat gauge and when the outside temperature starts warming back up pull the cardboard out. |
