I got the car to run after sitting for 5 years , the instrument lights were out I was getting power to the rheostat on the light switch but nothing to the instrument light s I pulled the the dash and replaced the lamps while the dash was hanging, I would start the car every few days and let it run for a few minutes, I sprayed electrical contact cleaner on to the connectors , then I thought I would start the car, but it would not start , I am not sure if I shorted something with the spray or with the dash hanging one of the wires that stop it from starting when it is not in neutral or park got disturbed , but I cant find any thing , I would apericate any sugestions

Wow, not really much to go on.
usually the dash going out will not stop a car from running.
not the same circuits...
when you say will not run, do you mean it will not turn over or will not start.
two different things.
I am having a problem myself right now with my Ranchero not wanting to start\\run.
so if you engine turns over easy, then thats step one.
check for voltage at the coil... 12v + - on pos, neg, ht
are you getting enough gas?
are you getting a spark, you can buy a spark tester, cheap...
I guess thats all I can suggest..
Hope you get it running.
best

I t turns over , and I can make it run by running a hot wire to the coil I am thinking it might be the ignition cut off wire so you cant start it if it is not in park or neutral
