My cup holders under the heater/AC were removed to make room for police gadgets which aren't there any more either. Now it's a gaping hole, but I found the cup holders for sale, and just wanted to know if I'll have a working cig lighter input if I buy this piece. The reason I ask is that back where the bracket is to slide the cup holder into place, I have 2 wires. One that's cut, and one that's got a square orange cap on it. Does this sound like I'll only have one working lighter inlet, or possibly none at all? OR am I not even looking at the correct wires.

Help greatly appreciated. Thank you

Do you have the power point below the cup holder?
There is a connector on the bracket that supplies power to both the cup holder plug and the power point below it(the square grey plug on top).
The orange/brown plug in this picture would go to the lighter in the cupholder.

I would test the wires to see if you've got power.

The power point is spliced into the same wiring harness for the cigarette lighter, isn't it?

That's definitely what's been cut off. How important is it for the functionality of the cupholder/cig lighter?

And, I'm really not much of a tech guy at all, but I could test the wires for power with a tick tester from Home Depot?

You can also do it old-school. Get a lighter assembly from Autozone, O'Reilly's, or Walmart that has the mounting assembly. Wire a 20-amp fuse to a power point on the fuse panel (always hot) to bring power to the lighter. Ground it to any metal ground point, preferably a screw hole. Now you got a powered lighter all the time.
