2000 Crown Vic police interceptor

Hey forum, i just put a down payment on an ex cop car my dad used for a taxi business for a few years and has agreed to sell to me for $1000. I'll get some pics this Saturday when i go down to clean it up, the little bit i know is that he had a jasper police interceptor put in it when he bought it from auction. He just took the taxi meter and crap out, i still have to remove the lettering, but i believe the bumper push bars are in the trunk ( he took them off ).
Other than needing some TLC, and i need to fix a small leak on the roof...small plug in roof not caulked very well, it's in ok shape and is a great buy for the $$, especially seeing that he's gonna let me throw him some bones now and again.
I do upholstery for a living so the front seats and probably the headliner will be tasks 1 & 2.

I'll post pics this weekend, it's got the rubber mat, and the dimples up in the headliner where the glass barrier used to press against the headliner, up by the handle/coat hanger area.

Any info or advice of things to check on or look for, plz hit me up and i'll be back here w/ pics this weekend. Peace.

Edit: the motor has 75,000 on it....unsure of the car's mileage for now. Started it today and moved it in the driveway, sounded strong.

Congrats on your purchase. Since you plan to redo the headliner, why not take it off and weld the hole in the roof. Or use JB Weld and patch it over from the inside, covering it with duct tape to hold it tight against the inside roof. You can always sand down the outside and repaint it.

Get ready to pay for parts though. The Police Interceptor uses HEAVY DUTY parts in the suspension, which naturally cost more than the civilian model. I use RockAuto to order my parts ahead of time. They are cheaper than most parts houses, but if you don't need the part NOW, it pays to order ahead of time.

That's a good idea idea JD, and was thinking the same. I'm familiar w/ JB Weld, and leaving the tape inside to hold its form, even after drying...is also a good idea. I haven't seen the hole, but the plastic plug is appx 1 1/4" on the cap and probably the usual pos x-mas tree ( 1/4"- 3/8"ish?). The guy that removed the taxi lights, put what looks like blue perma-tex on the external tabs lol. Probably address those too. The interior is blue cloth, front is ragged. i don't have much blue cloth atm, but i do have a nice roll of black/grey cloth i was saving for a yota 4x4.
Currently, black rubber floormat, blue dash, blue door panels, blue seats....
I have light grey and black headliner in stock, really not into sinking money i don't have atm, so seats and headliner may be getting a color change, maybe some plasti-kote later and dye the panels/dash.
Soooo much easier than making or buying new.

Hi JD can you tell me what are the heavyduy parts of the Police Interceptor that do not have the civilian vic ? i'm planing to get a Police interceptor soon.

Things i found and fixed, was 3 small holes where the taxi lights were on top, i removed the silicone and sanded down and jb welded the holes with some duct tape underneath for a base. Then the bigger hole for the previous coplights lol, was like a 1" hole, also jb welded, two small spots on the trunk lid, 1 was a rust spot and 1 was a round chip in the paint. So, inside, i removed the headliner and removed the rubber mat floor covering, there were 2 puddles of water in each rear floor board.

This was from the uncaulked plug in the roof....seeping thru the headliner, seeping thru the 2 small holes in the floor board rubber that the 'prisoner barrier' was mounted in prior. I removed all the felt from the mat and brought it home to re felt and let it dry, i brought the 2 front seats home to reupholster. Cleaned the hell out of the inside, removing some mildew that the hidden water was promoting, and also jb welded the 2 small mounting holes in the floor board. I remounted the front bumper wipe out bar thing since the brackets were there, washed the car and cleaned the weeping willow leaves out of the door, trunk and hood weather stripping areas. Enough yapping, here's some pics.

Some pic updates, reupholstered the front seats, stripped the lettering and taxi mileage/fare stickers. No more taxi. Really been loving this car. Cleaned this thing inside and out several times, been alot of people in and out of this thing, she'll be mostly babied from here on.
