Have an '04 Interceptor and would like to replace the original steering wheel with an '05 wheel. The original does not have cruise but the '05 wheel does. I've got the complete '05 column. Is this switch possible? Thanks.

WELL, anything is possible. But is it economical? No. The changes from 04 to 05 don't make it very economic. It can be done; just make sure you research everything from dimensions to wiring.

The real answer is...when you make the switch you will now have cruise control buttons on the wheel but it will not work just yet. You need to take it to the dealer and have them flash the CPU using a 04 program that installs the cruise feature. I have an 05 that had a plain steering wheel. I bought a new wheel with buttons for $100 from the dealer and had them flash the CPU for $100. The reason this can be done is because newer Crown Vics use drive by wire, no throttle cable, no servo, no speed sensor externally. IF YOUR 04 USES A THROTTLE CABLE IT WILL NOT WORK. If the throttle is operated electronically then just re-program the computer and you are good to go. In my case I had to find a service manager that understood the situation and was willing to do the job. The first guy told me no, it could not be done because he did not know what he was talking about....sounds familiar. BTW, you do not need the whole column to be changed out, just the wheel.
