Hey y'all!
I just purchased a 1998 Crown Victoria LX, and have started to find out some problems with it. So, I\\'m gonna be posting many questions, as I come across problems, that I can\\'t figure out.

Question #1:
Whenever I drive there is a message on the dashboard that keeps flashing, "OVERDRIVE OFF", what is that, and how do I change it? All of the dash is digital, if this helps any.

Over drive let's your vehicle drive at lower RPMs. Really helps save with fuel consumption. All you have to do is press the button in the tip of your shifter. Press the button and O/D OFF goes bye-bye

If the OD off light is flashing, there is a problem with the transmission.

Have you noticed any shifting issues? hard shifts, slipping, etc.

You need to have the car scanned for a trans code, not your standard code scanner can read those codes. A trans shop can do it or Ford, independent shops may be able to read the codes as well.

Hi DeRanKeR,
I tried that before posting, but it did not work. I also know this car needs a serious tune up. Hopin to change the spark plugs and wires by the end of the week.

Hi hondaclf,
I did feel it do that once today, when I came off a stop it kinda jerked, when switching gears. But it only happened once, and then it ran smooth.
I know that it needs a serious tune up, and just also found out that the suspension needs to be done. One of the arms, is making a loud clank sound when I turn. so I have to get that taken care of first.
I was about to go change the oil, but that'll have to wait now. Darn!
