I am thinking of swapping rear ends in my 2003 CVPI. Do I need an 03 CVPI rear end or can I use one from a Mustang or F150? Do I need the same year or can I use any 03 and newer? I know mine is a 28 spline model.

For a carrier, you can use ANY other 8.8 that is 28 spline.
For an entire rear end, you can use any Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Marauder or Town Car 2003+.
If you get one that is 2006 or newer, it will have 31 spline axles, upgrade but not really needed unless you're making power. If you get a 2003 then make sure the axle shafts are ok before you put it in.
