I have all 4 of my windows need repairs. Anyone know of any window guys in the Gainesville/Lake City/Chiefland area that do reasonably priced window work ? I know the motors in 3 of them are still good, but I just can't see going to the Ford dealership and getting screwed on the labor to fix them....any help ??? |

I have a '91 LTD CV and I purchased a factory shop manual for it on e-bay. I think I paid around $40 and it has been a great investment.
There is a section that describes how to service the window regulators and as always, there's a trick to it. Mine requires drilling some access holes to get to the mounting bolts.
Hope this helps.

Yes, thanks Mike,
Since posting I have been busy researching my issue. I have found the Regulators, without motors at Advance Auto Parts for 44.99, the Ford Dealership wanted $123.58 apiece, and although Advance doesn't sell Motorcraft these are Doorman, and made exactly to the OEM specs, so I'm confident they will work just fine. I also found on Youtube a video showing installation of the regulators on a 2003 CV, also showing the rivits being punched out and replaced with bolts and lock washers, and the whole ball of wax. so I am going to do the work myself !!! A Window company in Gainesville wanted $65.00 per window for labor alone, that's $260.00 dollars I don't have, and the Ford Dealership, last time I checked charged $90.00 an hour for labor. So I will take my time, follow the videos I downloaded to my laptop, and fix all four windows eventually and save a sh*tload of dough !!! Thanks again for your reply, and I will post how round one went with photographs after the 4th of July !!! |
