Hello,

I recently have had a problem with starting my rebuilt 72 capri engine 2.6L.I have placed a couple of washers between the starter and bellhousing. I recharged the battery and it spins over a little faster but it just doesn't seem to spin over fast enough. I have one of the exhaust manifolds off, does this matter? How fast does the engine have to turn over to get a spark? Someone said something about the main bearings being too tight. I don't have a spanner to turn the crank pulley but I use a socket and spin it that way. It was hard to turn over with just that so I had to use a pry bar. It seemed fairly tight, should it have been?? Is there anything else I can check before draining all the oil and taking the engine pan off to loosen the bolts? How easy should the crankshaft be able to spin? I was pretty sure they were to torque specs? DOes it matter what angle the ign.coil is in my compartment? I wouldn't think so. Like I said before all electrical seems to check out from everywhere but from the center lead to dist.?

PLease Help!!
