After the engine flush and a few warm-up & cool-down cycles, the drained oil showed no glitter or other debris, and the engine seemed to run well. So a new filter & a drain valve went on, with more new oil and a lot of hope.

While it was apart, I also sandblasted & painted the rotor, and cleaned up some of the grease. Later, the pressure-washer got most of the rest.

Back on the road, the CEL kept coming on with a thermostat code, indicating that it was stuck open. So I pulled the intake for a 4th time, and changed it. The code has not returned.

A recurring CEL with misfire codes indicated that the plug wires were due, so a new set was installed. No misfires since.
