1995 Jeep Wrangler - Time to install the rock sliders I purchased in October of last year. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - This will be the last time the side looks like this. "Lets hack away." 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Step One: Remove flares 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Wow, they were dirty under there. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Yep, front dirty also. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - The tires really stick out there without the fender flares. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Will require cleaning . 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Here is the slider. We need to cut to fit. They were fabricated to fit a CJ up to a CJ8 Scrambler. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Another view. We will need to drill the holes as well. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Needed to remove the wheels to get an accurate measurement. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Ooohhh.........I see a brake job in the near future . 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Todd cuts off the excess metal. Pay no attention to the "Hillbilly" work bench. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - After the final cut. Note: We used a "SawsAll" for the big cuts and a 4" angle grinder for the touch up work 1995 Jeep Wrangler - A closer look. Cut to form along with the wheel well of the YJ. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - I can't say enough about this workbench brought to you by FORD. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Gettin ready to do the drilling on this drill press mounted securely to the Ford workbench. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Go Tim, go! Drill away! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - We drilled these holes to the existing ones on the body so that we could hang and measure. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - OK, we needed to do a little "body work" so I grabbed the professional body work tool and "straightened" the body . 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Mounted, and ready to measure for the rest of the holes. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - These were the existing holes we mated to. These bolts will be hiding behind the flares, so they can be ugly! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - A little flex in the metal, but it will suck up to the body later. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - As you can see in my face, cleaning the flares = fun job! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Scrub, and scrub. Found out that Ajax with bleach cleans them up good. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - OK..........this got old in a hurry! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Tim takes time to pose. As you can see, we had to knock off a little of the plating on the inside. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - To get a flush mount with the bolts and washers, we needed to knock off some of the diamond plate. It's OK, we will paint later. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - New holes in the Jeep. No turning back now! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Good shot of the hole pattern. Holes are drilled. Now we will mount and match these holes and drill in to the body. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - The holes after we mounted and removed the slider. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - There we go, mounted up with the stainless button head bolts. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Tim gettin ready to drill the other side. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Getting good at making holes. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - More body work required. Notice how the straight edge is not flush. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Still not flush. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - There we go. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Making the holes in the body using the holes that Tim drilled on the press as a pilot. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Time to test the strength of the sliders. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Both tires off the ground. I give it a passing grade! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - OK, we got a little sidetracked on a Bumperette Removal job that Tim was just dying to do. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Lets get rid of these. By the way........not gas carriers! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - One down. Notice the bumperette removal tool on the ground. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Another view. This will be painted the same color as the silders . 1995 Jeep Wrangler - OK, only one more weld to go. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Grind.....grind..........grind..... 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Other side = OFF! No more bumperettes. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Clean up! 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Hit it with the primer. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Hmmmmmmm........gray works, maybe I'll leave it like this. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Putting the flares back on. This was the worst part of the job . 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Weather stripping tape to fill the gaps left by the overlap of the sliders to the body. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Complete with rock sliders. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Not a bad job. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Another view, driver side. 1995 Jeep Wrangler - Bumper complete, without bumperettes.
