Time to lift up the rear and check out the axles/differential.

Finally! I finally got the darn front cover off... After the advice from the BigBroncos list, I used the ol' "screwdriver wedged in the flexplate" trick. And it worked!

I hope that this is where the coolant was mixing with the oil, and not from a bad cylinder head!

I hope this is enough clearance to get the oil pan out.

I don't want to risk cracking the tranny tailhousing by lifting any higher. I'll check my other options for oil pan removal...

Well, not enough room to drop it, so I am going to cut the driver side exhaust that crosses underneath and then clamp it back together.
