The 2006 Lincoln Zephyr was a front-wheel-drive mid-size luxury sedan built on Ford's CD3 platform, shared with the Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, and Mazda6. It came with a single powertrain, the 3.0L Duratec 30 V6 rated at 221 horsepower and 205 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transaxle. It was offered only as a four-door sedan and only in front-wheel drive. The 2006 model year was the sole year to carry the Zephyr name, as Lincoln renamed the car the MKZ for 2007 and then added available all-wheel drive and a larger 3.5L V6.
