The 1964 Mercury Monterey was the base full-size Mercury series, below the Montclair and Park Lane. Standard power was a 390 cubic inch FE V8 rated at 250 hp (gross), with a 300 hp four-barrel Marauder version and larger options available. Sedans could be ordered with the Breezeway roof, a reverse-slanted power-retractable rear window, and body styles also included two-door and four-door hardtops, a convertible, and the two-door Marauder fastback. Transmissions ranged from a three-speed manual to a four-speed manual and the Multi-Drive Merc-O-Matic automatic.
