The 2005 Mercury Monterey was a front-wheel-drive minivan, an upscale rebadge of the Ford Freestar produced for the 2004-2007 run. It used a 4.2 liter (256 cubic inch) Essex V6 rated at 201 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque, paired with a four-speed automatic. It seated seven behind dual sliding side doors and was distinguished from the Freestar by a unique grille, taillamps, and upgraded interior. The 2005 model carried over largely unchanged from its mid-2004 introduction.
