The 1983 Toyota Pickup closed out the third generation of Toyota's compact truck, sold as the Hilux in most markets but badged simply as the Toyota Truck in the United States. Power came from the carbureted 22R 2.4-liter four, with a 2.2-liter L-series diesel optional, and 4x4 models used a leaf-sprung solid front axle with a two-speed transfer case. The rectangular-headlight front end from the 1982 facelift carried over for this final year before the fully redesigned 1984 truck.
