My name is Don and I am an independent filmmaker/videographer for hire working in Milwaukee, Chicago and the Midwest. I bought a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and have quickly fallen in love with the car. I bought it because I love nostalgia and though I'm not old enough to remember living in the time of Muscle Cars and Muscle sedans I feel like the Crown Vic is a link to the way cars used to be manufactured in America. It makes me think of the old Galaxy sedans. I also bought it because I work in movies and it could come in handy for that.
Nicknamed: "The Palomino", due to it's power, grace and golden hue. Like the Palomino it is not a peer bread horse and has a streak of Mustang, thanks to what breathes beneath the hood. If Roy Rodgers had to choose a modern mode of transportation I have no doubt he'd trust this rare bred steed as much as he did "Trigger" back in his hey day.

The Story: I purchased my CVPI, in full, on 3/19/11 from Welcome Motors of Chicago Illinois with 92,XXX miles on the odometer. The car was originally purchased 8/30/05 by the Outagamie County Sheriff's Department in Appleton Wisconsin with 90 miles on the odometer. It was used as an unmarked County Sheriffs car. It's been well maintained on a regular 60 day maintenance schedule and the engine and transmission are "bulletproof". It was a steal and will be an excellent investment as it is among the easiest and cheapest cars on the road to maintain, thanks to a plentiful abundance of parts, OEM and salvage, and the simplicity of the cars engineering. It has a rugged, durable front engine, rear wheel drive, body on frame construction and heavy duty suspension. It is one of the safest cars on the road with a five star crash test rating by the NHTSA and an unprecedented 75mph rear end collision rating. It's a car I hope to own for a very, very long time.
As Elwood might say, "It's got a cop motor, a 4.6 Liter, Overhead Cam, Electronic Fuel Injected V-8. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made after 2003, so it wont catch on fire and explode due to a 75 mile per hour rear-end collision. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"
And the cigarette lighter works just fine! As a matter a fact, you can power a laptop with it!
Mods: It's pretty much bone stock. After I bought it I replaced the warn out shocks with new KYB gas adjust shocks and the car handles and rides great. I had the brakes and pads done and the rear differential was serviced. It runs and drives like a bat outta hell. I also tucked the bumper. |
