21052010423.jpg 576 hits | 53.93 KB | Posted: 2011-06-02 And here's the filler! A little bit of heat distortion and a little straightening but it really is a thin wipe.... (Posted in: Roof Rust)
16052010418.jpg 585 hits | 76.89 KB | Posted: 2011-06-02 It's getting there.I wanted to lead the repair so there was no chance of any pin prick holes left in the weld that moisture could get through from either side. There's no way that I'm going to be good enough to not have to use a little skim of body filler but I'll know that it's all sound underneath.... 11052010409.jpg 266 hits | 79.83 KB | Posted: 2011-06-02 I'd already replaced the gutter with new metal from underneath and that was where the rot stopped. There was about 3 inches of the swage line that I was able to save at the front of the cab which gave me the shape to work to.The inside metal you can see here was cleaned up, rust treated and painted with anti corrosion primer.... 10052010407.jpg 228 hits | 85.2 KB | Posted: 2011-06-02 A lot of this rot here and still to be cut out has been caused by a crap repair done before. Poor fabrication and lots of filler have made it far worse than it would have been.... (Posted in: Roof Rust)

11052010411.jpg 289 hits | 89.62 KB | Posted: 2011-06-02 I made smaller plates up because each piece was a little different in size and shape and I found it far easier. The other reason was I could tack in the first plate and keep an eye on the shape of the roof, keeping the heat down so it suffered no distortion.... 05052010401.jpg 392 hits | 83.96 KB | Posted: 2011-06-02 From what I've seen, this rot is fairly typical of the Broncos and F series. Couldn't see much of a reason for it, but the drivers side was far worse than the passengers.... (Posted in: Roof Rust)
