Fortunatley I had scheduled an oil change with the dealer at 11:00 this morning, so they are "trying" to fit in the SES light into their schedule. Some BS about it taking 1.5 hours to do that. How hard is it to hook up the diagnostic computer and pull codes? My guess is that some sensors were not working properly this morning when the X fired up. As I drove into work the temp on the thermometer read -9. It is a little chilly here today! Diesels take a looooong time to warm up on days like this!!

it only takes 5 minutes to scan and pull codes but the dealer calls it a diagnostic procedure and charges 1.5 hours.

It takes me longer to pull the Superchips 1705 Microtuner out of the center console than it does to read the codes !
Get one for your PSD - it's a must have !!!

I realize it's a quick process...used to pull codes from my Bronco (by counting the number of times the SES light blinked and decoding it in my Haynes manual).
I have to dig up my warranty materials. I was charged $100 for them to look at the X because it's outside the 36K warranty. I also have the extended warranty for everything to 100,000 miles -- can't remember if the extended warranty had that $100 deductible or not.

Depends on which extended warranty you have (read HOW MUCH IT COST !?!)
Some have a $50 deductible and others $100 - I have the $100 deductible Ford 100k warranty...the years don't matter since I will be to 100k WAY before the years run out... always happens on all my cars !!! Guess I drive too much !!!
Our 02 Ex we got it August has 13k on it already and it's been in the shop for about 7 or 8 weeks during that time ! so that's about 3 or 4K per month ! And I work from home 99% of the time Go figure...
