Can anyone who has the Ford factory alarm with the remote start tell me what each of the four wires are that connect to the shock sensor input? The unit I purchased does not have a shock sensor included but the input is there. Also, if anyone has one of the OEM shock sensors is it a good one, or should I stick with an aftermarket(hinging on I can find out the connections)? Lastly, what happens with the keyless entry keypad on the doors, are they useless? Just a few questions before I begin the install. I have a 2000 4x4 X Limited. If there is any do's and don'ts feel free to chime in. This will be my first remote start but not my first alarm install. Thanks, RickyG |

Ricky,
I'm somewhat confused by your post -- the Ford factory alarm doesn't have remote start.
Here's my setup and how everything works:
- Had the factory alarm (no remote start)
- Installed a Viper 550 alarm w/ remote start option
- Used shock sensors for the Viper alarm
- Keypad on the door still works with the Viper alarm (it doesn't disarm the vehicle, though)
- I have one remote for everything
As far as the extra wires on the OEM alarm, I don't know what they're for. I chose to go with a Viper alarm for the additional features such as shock sensors, hood/trunk sensors, as well as the door sensors. I also have a 2-way remote control which means if I am in range when the alarm goes off, my remote beeps too and tells me which sensor was tripped. Also, when I remote start, it lets me know that the command was received on my remote. Hope this helps.
