All, I received the following today in my email:

YOUR SUPERFORD.ORG E-MAIL ACCOUNT WILL END ON JULY 15, 2003
Beginning July 15, 2003 free SuperFord.org e-mail accounts will no longer be available. If you are not a yearly subscriber of SuperFord.org, your e-mail account will be disabled.

WHAT CAN I DO TO KEEP MY E-MAIL ACCOUNT?
If you currently are not a subscriber and would like to keep your SuperFord.org e-mail address as well as take advantage of other subscriber-related features, for only $12.99/year you can become a subscriber. To subscribe, please visit http://www.superford.org/members/about.php and subscribe today! All major credit cards are accepted as well as PayPal.

I'M A YEARLY SUBSCRIBER, WILL MY E-MAIL ACCOUNT BE DISABLED, TOO?
No. Yearly subscribers will always continue to have the option of having a SuperFord.org e-mail account (if they have one established).

WHY THIS CHANGE IN POLICY?
The reason for this change in policy is because we are working on ways to reduce the bandwidth usage on the SuperFord.org server. Free e-mail accounts cause a rather significant drain on resources of the server as well as bandwidth requirements for the server. Now that the server is colocated at an ISP, bandwidth costs have increased dramatically so we have decided to eliminate this free feature of the website.

HOW CAN I DISABLE MY FREE E-MAIL ACCOUNT?
Follow these steps:
1.) Log onto http://www.superford.org
2.) Click on "MY SFO"
3.) Click on "Manage Your Account"
4.) Click on "E-mail"
5.) Uncheck the "enable SuperFord.org e-mail" checkbox at the bottom of the page.
----
You are receiving this message because you have an account established on SuperFord.org with a free e-mail address. This is the last e-mail you receive regarding this issue. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].

Love the truck, love the group, but I can't afford to join everything. Not sure yet what I will do. If the mandatory fees are to offset bandwidth issues, perhaps more stringent limits on what is postable could help instead of mandatory fees. I've got only one picture posted and don't normally post very much or upload/download anything but the posts.

Anyway, the thought of not being able to be here is a sad one.

Gary,

Fortunately, you are misunderstanding the e-mail!!!

It simply states that if you have chosen to use the free SuperFord.org e-mail account, it will be deactivated unless you pay for a yearly membership. If you do not pay for yearly membership, you can still enjoy all the features of SuperFord.org but will simply no longer have access to a free SuperFord.org e-mail address.

Make sense?
