I went over to my friends house yesterday which is about 10 to 12 miles away. I shut my truck off for about 30 to 45 minutes. I hopped in to leave and it wouldn't start. It was just cranking and thats it. I waited for about 15 minutes to see if it was flooded and it started up, but only for a couple seconds then it just quit! It wouldn't start after that. I had it roll-backed to my local dealer where it sat overnite. The tech that went to check it out said it started just fine in the morning. They said it was fine and I'm pickin it up later on today. Any suggestions what happened?? I'm just a little worried if it's an intermittent problem. |

Same thing happened to my 2000 PSD X. It's the Cam Position Sensor that's bad. If it happened once, it will happen again. My situation was identical to yours...my X died, it would not start after that so I had it towed to the dealership where it sat over the weekend. Come Monday morning, it fired right up for them. Convinced that it would happen again, I drove it around to prove to them that something was wrong and it eventually died.
Tell them to examine the cam position sensor. It's covered under your 100K warranty on the engine. It doesn't always trip the "service engine soon" light so don't let it fool you (or them).
BTW, it typically died on me after the engine was warmed up and in "normal" operating temps.
