Vehicle is no longer for sale.

We turned it in and walked away. The lease residual was
much too high and Ford wouldn't negotiate a lower buy-out.
I decided to let them take the loss of about $6000.

Wife's new Chevrolet Suburban will be here this week,
she drove the new Expidition and hated it with a passion.

They will take a big hit on it. I spoke with a salesman at the big Ford truck/fleet dealership in this area and he said they couldn't give any of the V10s away if they wanted to. They had one sit on the lot for 180 days and ended up selling it at an auction for what they picked it up for. The Powerstrokes on the other hand sell like hotcakes.

Eric,

On the otherhand, a used V10 is a good deal. You get a excellent drive train with a proven record. The V10 that has not been used for towing is easier on brakes and the transmission. If Lee wants another Excursion a used V10 would be a good choice. The diesels also are going fairly low around Detroit. One in Detroit News last Sunday, 110K miles 7.3 L Limited 4WD. 18K by private party. I saw a 2000 XLT 4WD V10 with under 50K for 16K at a dealer in the same paper.

Yeah, I totally agree that it's a good deal. I am surprised Ford couldn't offer a better deal to Lee considering the hit they'll take on the V10 anyway. Might as well get some more money out of the customer if you can and keep them happy rather than taking a $6k hit straight up and turning the customer over to the competition. Doesn't make sense. Another case of people going too much by the book and not taking into consideration the "big picture."
