Jim,

I think I was probably one that recommended Western Diesel to you in an e-mail when you first joined the site last year. I remember you did an Excursion for a Vikings player (I believe) so naturally I was interested in helping since MN is home to the Vikings.

I think Mike/gearman may have misinterpreted you in a post...I didn't read it has hateful or making false claims...merely just reporting what you know based on the smiles on your customer's faces.

Mike/gearman knows the guy that makes the TTS chip. I was out in LA a couple weeks ago and drove his Excursion with the TTS chip. I will certainly be getting the TTS chip. I have now had a WD chip and Hypermax chip in my Excursion. The seat of the pants feel of the TTS chip was the best I've experienced thus far. I am only holding out on getting it because I'm currently not running a chip due to Ford denying warranty coverage on a trans that went bad at 87K. I'm hanging on until I hit 100K miles, then another chip will go in because I will be outside the factory PSD warranty as well as my extended coverage.

Jim, I encourage you to continue posting pics of your vehicles. Clearly your clients are in a whole other world of budget compared to most of us, so it's fun to see the creations you're coming up with in your shop.

i call them as i see them. When a supplier or supposed manufacturer does not back their product or give technical advice to solve a problem(your fault, my fault, anybodys fault) that sucks. People that come to you , me , anybody else are not usually automotive experts. They are looking for a product. We can supply that product, but we take it upon ourselves to make this product work. Yes, sometimes it's not our fault that the product doesn't work because of other complications. Well, this is when you have to earn your money. You cant tell people that have spent money with you that it's not your fault, you have to go the extra mile and follow through and help. You can not have someone sitting on a dead vehichle and not help. I run a service business, not internet parts business; (some day i would like to). As far as where was i when you decided to go with the supplyer that you chose; i was watching and learning how people got treated with their purchase. If i came out of the blue and said i am better, people would have thought "who the hell are you, and why should i listen to what you have to say". Well, i like to help people and give them the straight info because it's therapy for me. I have done well in my business and like the thought of giving something back. I love it when i can give info and save some of you guys a big bill. Enough about me.
jbondox, your answer sounded sincere, i liked what you posted. Maybe i missread you. I am very picky and judgemental when it comes to service in the automotive busimess, i have a very high standard that i have a difficult time living up to.

well i am glad we are all back to normal, the group hug thing works, . anyways i am with you 100% when it comes to customer satisfaction, and strongly believe in it. i demand it from my manufacturers and the customers demand it from me. the only people who i ran across so far as being shady was kenwood usa, and they could care less. anyways, i'm glad this won't turn into a unproductive type post. i wish you and your company great sucess.

here is some pics that i am sure your friends and family would enjoy when they have to travel with you...

before...

and now, the front seat is really reclined back and is also back as far as the seat motor will let it

we moved it back 11"

Egg-Salad !!!!

Just what one of my pet peeves is with these BEAST !

Only a few inches for the rear passengers to get in !!!

Did you permanantly move the rears back or did you put a slider under them so they could be moved fore and aft?

Don't want to take away ALL the 3rd row leg room ALL the time !

Recall the old pedastel seat slidres that could give you some adjustment....

The seats already come with a slider to let the rear (3rd seat) passengers out. we permantly mounted the seat 11" back. now ehen you need to get into the 3 rd seat, the 2nd seat will slide fwd giving you about 6" to get in. we really didn't care what the 3rd row passengers need to get in, even though there is enough room. you can see in the last picture where the previous location was and where the chrome carriage bolt is now. also in that picture you can see where the floor dips just fwd of the body bolt access (the black oval grommet) we have to fill that area because it feels weird when you sit and there is so much room. also the third seat gets the springs removed, the rack that lets it slide in and out, and will sit on a new non roller type enclosure that will be 5" in height to fit a few amps under it along with the navigation, sirrus tuner, a/v switcher, and some other accy's. i'm almost 6', i will have leg room and headroom in the third seat location. there is about 24" of space to the rear door, so he can fit some clubs...

hope that answers the question on that

Yep, familiar with the second row 'sliders' - this is my second Ex...
They are supposed to flip and fold... my '02 did, my 03 takes a grunt to get them to move...
Very few of my passengers have figured it out for fear of breaking something so I have to show them that even my 250 lbs has to LEAN on it to get it to move....

I don't want to move the third seat cause I have large labs that ride back there...

I would like adjustable second row buckets that CAN be slid back for more leg room and then forward if third row is occupied - not the flip and fold option but a seating adjustment...

guess I will keep looking...

tanks...
and planes...
and....

if you want, take the 3rd row and face it back vs fwd. as for making it slide easier, losen the bolts on the seats a little and then retighten them, i believe something is warped, because ours were tough to we relocated them, not to mention when the bolts were loosened when it was temporally installed, they seemed to slide and work easier. other than that it was a piss poor design on ford. both the rears are the 40 section of the 60/40 bench setup, with a couple of modifications. for those wanting to upgrade their seats to leather or change the cheap vinyl seats with a few pieces of leather to a real leather seat. just a fyi

Thanks - good point about just loosening mounts and retighten after adjusting... will give it a try...

I guess "it's the principle" of the thing...
Have brought it into dealer and had this on my 'list' three times and they've pleaded ignorance...
I have to agree with their assesment
