I was looking at replacing the exhaust on my X. I had a dealer/installer tell me he could install a Dynomax system (19332) pretty cheaply (about $300). Another dealer/installer told me the Dynomax won't fit. Something about the pipes and hangers are completely differnt on the X and the Superduty.
Has anyone installed this system? Any recommendations for something comparable at a similar price?

Jon,
Any good exhaust shop will make their own hangers if the supplied ones don't work. Go with the guy who quoted you $300. Sounds like he's confident that it'll work regardless of what's supplied. Those are the best shops to work with anyway. I'm also assuming it's no larger than 4" piping as well. A good shop will also be able to bend 4" or less pipe if it's not fitting properly.
One question...is the $300 for parts and labor? I assume from the down-pipe back? If so, that's a very nice price, I would not hesitate.
I would definitely look for an exhaust shop who's used to doing custom install jobs. The experience is really worth it. The shop I go to always has restored vehicles and drag cars in it, so not only can he make systems that'll handle the high HP, but he'll make it work.

Can you believe that FORD has the nerve NOT to put a stainless steel exhaust on a
FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLAR vehicle!!!!!!!!!
I drove up to New York in the last snowstorm (from Florida) and the whole exhaust is rusted from that one trip!!! NICE!! Comments??

Hey Jon - That's a great deal for a total labor/parts job. Maybe I'll bring mine there too and we'll get a package deal!! How loud/deep/cool does that exhaust sound?? Ciao, Godfather |

I had a HOG Performance exhaust (stainless)installed and it rocks. 4" through with a 6" x 24" mirror polished stainless tip. Cost $695. They did have to modify the two hangers since the kit is for a superduty. They just heated them up and bended them as needed. Good luck. You can see pics of my truck on my page... |
