Who has replaced there heated seat elements? How hard was it to replace? How much was the parts from ford? I have read where the element will break with a lot of use, my passenger side works fine!

Another note. I have gotten a popping sound from under my feet somewere. I torgued the sway bar bolts to 85lbs as the ford TSB said and no difference in sound. I have only had this for a little over a week.

Scott,

Have you had any luck with your heated seats? My driver's side just stopped working. It turns on, but no heat. Fortunately the wife's side still works fine otherwise this would be an emergency fix.

birdman127,

On the popping sound from under you feet, you don't have a Helwig rear sway
bar by chance, do you ? I had a similar symptom with mine. I would have sworn
the sound was coming from right under the driver's foot area.

I tried tightening the front sway bar, end links, shocks, steering stabilizer with
no change. It ended up being the down links from the rear Helwig sway bar had
lossened up and the sound was transmitting forward. Once I re-tightened the Helwig
end-links, all was fine.

Good Luck,

Dave

Eric,
I have a new founf freind who does warranty work on interiors of Fords. The bottom element is being replaced in a week. The part costs like 40 bucks and told me it will take him a half hour to replace it from start to finnish.

Dave, Yes I do, Callin for 50 tomorrow so I am changing the oil and looking for that dang sound! I will check that first since i have not even looked in that direction...Thanks

Scott,

If you remember, can you post the part number after you have the work done? I will probably attempt this myself this winter in the comfort of my garage.

Weird how the sound came from the front until you get outside then it was in the back. I will adding lock washers to the drop down links today for sure.

birdman, I believe I had the exact same sound. It sounded & felt like something was popping right under my feet while driving. It usually happened while going over a bump and turning at same time. I kept taking it back to the tire store where the lift kit was put on and they would keep saying that they couldn't replicate the sound. So one day while it was doing it fairly consistent I drove over and picked up their tech and went to this nearby parking lot to reproduce the knocking/popping sound. It turned out that (this is what they say at least) the drop downs from the frame to the swaybar had rust (realize the truck had only about 4,000 miles on it) between the frame and the pivot point. Even tighteninig the bolt supposedly didn't help (because they had tried that a couple times earlier). They had to take it off, clean the frame in that area, and clean the edges of that pivot point (it's round and has a rubber bushing in it I think) off and then bolt it back up. The sound went completely away.

They diagnosed it by actually removing the sway bar completely and then going back to the parking lot and trying to make the noise again. They then realized it had something to do with the sway bar, but as there isn't really much to it, they started looking at the little things and I guess figured that's what it was.

Anyway, it's gone...thank goodness.
