HAPPY HOLIDAYs to all you X posters!!!
Now, back to FORD's latest BULLS**T: the service advisor tells me " FORD doesn't pay for reading the codes and only gives us 15 minutes for the pedal replacement, so we can't read the codes for you". HOW'S THAT for a customer that spent $44,000 ???
So, I KNOW the light came on when the pedal died (VERY DANGEROUS!!!) and they won't even read the codes- isn't that lovely????
Back to original question: I reckon if I disconnect the batteries for a half hour, the computer should totally die and erase the existing codes/reset the CHECK ENGINE light. Then I'll reconnect the batteries which should cleanly reboot the computer and all should be "bullseye at 200 yards (thanks to Springfield Armory M1a1 .30".
What say you guys??? TIA for your help!!!

Ciao, Godfather

I always send the wife to the dealership. They treat her really nicely, and to them i am just another dude. If you had a nice rack i am sure they would pull your codes.

You know, I have noticed the exact same thing. The wife even gets a loaner car at the dealership she brings her car too...we purchased the car out of state and it's out of warranty. All I get is a ride to work from the dealership's shuttle service.

Guess what boys.... today after probably the 20 or 25 th start up after the CHECK ENGINE light bulls**tstarted, THE LIGHT WENT OUT!!! The Physical Therapy machines I work on do the same thing, if a fault is reported once and no reoccurence takes place after 20 reboots(starts) the error clears itself. So "whadya" think??? Everything seems OK- I leave for New York tomorrow.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!!!!!!

The other morning (5to10 below) my wifes X did not want to start. After five tries I decided it was time to find the heater plug and plug it in (owned for a month now). It sat for a few hours plugged in, and easily fired up afterwards. Then on her way home the service engine soon light comes on. I drove it the next day for 20 miles with the light always on. It was odd though, the light would come on and stay on as soon as the key was turned over. I called the place we got it yesterday and on my way up to Tousley Ford the light didn't come back on. The dealer said the light may have been triggered due to the hard start, he also said that after some 40 restarts it would go away on it's own or to unhook the battery.
Hopefully the light will stay off. I told the Ford dealer that my 99 PSD with 140,000 miles has never had a service engine soon light on, he seemed surprised!
