Finally, I got out and test drove the 2004 mighty beast with the PSD. I like this engine, it's
pretty cool. The roar and clank of the engine and the whine of the turbo when flooring. This monster
feels like a hulk when driving and I didn't feel comfortable driving >70 mph on the freeway
during rush hour. Taking corners is pretty scary, feels like a giant box with wheels.
The Suburban felt more comfortable and there is less fear driving faster on the freeway,
more like a car. Well, it's 2000 pounds lighter than X and even the cheap GM 5.3L V8 is
good enough, but for towing I doubt it. No diesel option for GM on Suburban or Yukon,
otherwise I'd consider one, but the gas engine gen III GM engines are receiving bad press
everywhere on the internet due to piston slap. I have no faith in that engine, I'm paranoid.
The last condender we like is the new Nissan Armada, bold styling that I don't like,
bold claims - 9100 lbs towing, optimized interior - very flexible, cheap plastic interior though,
the powertrain is excellent, the best gas engine I've tried, even better than the Hemi on
the 2004 Durango... drives very well with it's suspension offering, but it's really just a 1/2 ton
SUV.
If you play fantasy role playing games, such as Dungeons and Dragons, I would associate
these vehicles with the following characters;
1. Excursion = Male Half Orc Barbarian
.. Strong and mindless warrior
2. Suburban = Male Fallen Human Paladin
.. Honorable church going fighter that lost faith
3. Tahoe = Fallen Male Gnome Paladin
.. Midget honorable church going fighter that lost faith
4. Nissan Armada = Male Human Monk
.. Powerfull attack, but weak defense
5. Dodge Durango 2004 w/Hemi = Male Fighter/Thief
.. Good fighter, but you feel the back stab coming at you looking forward
6. Toyota Sequoia = Female Cleric
.. Lacks the brute force of a fighter, instead relies on spells to heal its
wounds.
7. Toyota 4Runner = Half-Elf Mage Illusionist
.. Specializing in minds tricks to deceive

I'm sorry, but I am not thinking about 'ghosts and goblins' while I am out truck shopping. |

Is the Nissan Armada that truck they try to portray as the one that good ol' American Union workers "depend on"? Those commercials are amusing. Lots of claims for a truck with no track record. Guess we'll see in 10+ years if those vehicles last like an American engine and drivetrain do. Trucks are different ballgame than cars. I can't wait to see what Honda comes out with for a "full size." No offense to import owners, I just think that The Big Three won't let the truck market slip away from them like they have everything else.
Can't say that I would even compare the Nissan Armada to the Excursion. Two completely different vehicles...as is the Excursion and the Suburban. The X is in a class all its own!

Although I'm not a D&Der, your analogies are pretty spot-on.
