You will not get much for 1300.00 bucks. If your code read incorrect 3rd gear ratio, that means it is slipping in 3rd gear, trans is gone. I recommend Suncoast if you don't want to do this again.

Either tranny would be the way to go if you never want to touch the tranny again.
Most Ford dealerships charge $2,700-3,000 plus for a rebuilt tranny with labor.
I paid a hair under $2,000 for my Ford rebuilt unit over a year ago and did the labor in trade for a buddy. I remember someone on the net claiming that BTS would put in a tranny for $3,500 or something with labor? That seems cheap, hard to believe it would include labor in and out.
The whole job took my buddy about 8 hours to do. I know homes and such are very cheap in Arkansas and construction laborers usually get paid half of what they do here in the twin cities of MN. It would be hard to get a truck to Arkansas with a bad tranny though. Most guys drive there truck down and have them do the labor I think before the tranny goes out.
There are probly more options locally for ,ost people however to have a Suncoast put in.

Just to reaffirm BTS or Suncoast are the two best in the USA. Do not worry about BTS having a 12mo. shorter warranty. If something happens even after the 24mo. he will still honor the origonal warranty. He also states unlimited H/P, and mileage I believe, in his warranty. Your quote of $1000-$1300 for a rebuild is extremely low. Somebody is lowballing you. Even if you did have Ford do the recall work on your trans, it most likely will cause problems due to the chip "traces" left on your ECM, Ford will viod your warranty claiming the chip did the damage. I have seen Suncoasts fail before and they were GREAT when it came to prompt warranty service. I have not personally seen a BTS fail so I can't comment on their warranty service. Both companies will ship their trannies to you for you to install. Plan on spending about $3500 + shipping for one of these trannies. Expect to spend no less then $2200 for a good rebuild and upgrades of your trans, from a good shop.

If you have a chip and are getting the tranny done at Ford under warranty, pull the chip. They will void warranty repair on your tranny..no if's and's or but's about it!
I paid $3,000 for a rebuilt tranny from Ford (including labor) that has a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty on it.

Alex,
Go to ford and talk to them. If Ed is right and there was a recall you can complain to ford about your problem.
My father had a Tarus with 78000 miles the tranny blew and there was a recall on a problem that was for a differnt year and they replaced the tranny for $200.00.
One other thing, what type of chip are you using? Some increase the line pressure in the tranny and can cause shifting issues. If you can remove the chip and see if itr solves the problem...
