Guys and ladies,
Blacked out 03 is driving me crazy (in regards to keeping it semi clean), what do you all use to keep the swirls down to a minimum?? I use turtle wax quick wax and black magic detailer... I love the truck but I am seriously thinking of going to the white/gold 03 Bauer version that my dealer has on the lot Any and all assistance appreciated

foam/synthetic buffing pad the only way to go. I had my buffed by a buddy and then he applied a 3M sealer that seems to be holding up very well. Makes it easy to do half ass details that look good for a while.

"Liquid Gold" ... the only car wax worth a flip ... and it's expensive, too ... but like a lot of expensive stuff (the "X" included), it's worth it. That "everyday" car wax is for those who haven't learned a thing or two from the "show" crowd ... like how Lemon Pledge leaves a very nice finish on tires ... makes 'em look new ... not shiny ... tires ain't supposed to be shiny ... but new-lookin' is cool. |

Cwbyinjeep,
Thanks much!! Will invest in a couple of them Landyot,
I have heard that before about the lemon pledge, just never did it... I normally use the "shiny stuff" and than wipe the tires down, leaves a satin finish and there is no fling off on the just wax truck. Liquid Gold, will give it a try
Thanks again guys

If you have some time to put into it, try the Zaino products. I don't think I've read anything about Zaino in these forums, but maybe I didn't go back far enough. Most people who try Zaino, swear by it.
Go here: http://www.zainostore.com I have used Zaino in the past and it does work extremely well, but it does take a long time to do it right. Last year I switched to Adam's Polishes. I like it better than Zaino, only for the comparative ease of use. You still have to work at it, but it doesn't take nearly as much time.
Go here: http://www.adamspolishes.com Two things I learned from owning my black Expedition:
1. Dark vehicles, especially black, require much more time and effort to keep the paint looking new.
2. I will not buy another black vehicle.

Orf,
I seem to remember someone posting some pictures of their X after they used Zaino (picture was to really show the Speed Grill but included mention of wax)... Same here brother, never another black vehicle will I own BUT I will say, DAMN, nothing prettier than a black truck when it is clean John R,
Is this the same wax as LandYot mentioned?

I use Zaino on my cars, and I'm especially picky about my Superformance Cobra. It goes on really easy, buffs off easy, lasts a long time, and is very reflective. I use their Z5 to minimize the slight swirls that are created thru normal hand washing and such on my Ex and my '01 GT Bullitt, then finish with a coat or two of Z2 Show Polish.
Have Fun,
Randy R...
