It is a very active site with alot of people so you get good and bad as one would expect. And just so you know before you head there; it is a big site with lots of good info, but you will also find a select group of members and moderators ( Monsta is one of them ) who allow those that are part of the " in " group to pretty much say and do whatever they want. They have board rules, but they are bent and twisted for the occasion as required, which is why I prefer this board, in addition to the fact that people are generally nicer here.

I will hold out as just one example, Kreg Donahoe of Donahoe Racing / Edge, who will not even post there anymore because of one guy who berates his product line and personage so vigorously every time he tries to provide information that he has given up period. Of course this Abendx guy, or whatever his handle is, happens to be part of the " in " group, so they let him insult and disparage others without restraint.

What you didn't ask for, but interesting none the less:

My trouble there arose from my response to a post asking for information on problems with a 4.5" Edge lift. Just like I would do here, I gave the guy all the required fixes. The guy didn't know a two piece drive shaft from a one piece when the thread started, but then all the sudden he was an expert and needed no further help. I made the mistake of getting frustrated at wasting my time trying to help him out and made reference to his mechanical ignorance on the driveshaft and the fact that he dropped the spline joint and put it back together out of phase.

Of course the guy goes off and I - like an idiot - respond in kind. The other guy was evidently a college football player, who knows where, but he assured me that we would all want his autograph. And now he is a college professor, at who knows where, and is quite proud of it. To the extent that he feels the mere mention of those facts will strike fear and awe into the hearts of all. I just couldn't help it - I had to shake his cage. Then, after considering the insanity of argueing on the internet; yeah, yeah, I could see myself running through the ribbon across the track, gleefully drooling and smiling from ear to ear, I e-mailed the mod - Monsta - and asked to have the thread deleted. No such luck. Stayed right where it was, so I decided WTF, I'll really wind this guy up. And I did. Boy was he pissed. Mispelled half the words in his last post after bragging about his education and professional proficiency.

As I mentioned, Monsta is a moderator there. He is one of the better ones and I know it takes alot of time and energy to be an unpaid moderator because I have done it, so I salute him for that. But then he decided to take it upon himself to insult me at the end of the thread for my making reference to the right to defend myself with deadly force - yep deadly force - I will not be threatened, insulted or touched without an appropriate response. Then he locked the thread so I couldn't respond and left it there. He did later delete all the BS posts from the thread, which was nice, but he could have done it two days earlier.

So when I saw Monsta here on the gas mileage thread I couldn't resist a little prod. Gosh - he didn't like it at all. He promptly deleted my posting signature on the FTE site. I haven't looked, but I pretty much expect to be banished from the site, as a serf with little to offer but but a few rusty lug nuts to the Moderator Knights of the FTE round table.

I still want to know - why can't users can't delete their own posts or edit them after 60 minutes at the FTE site? And for that matter delete them here when we screw up like I just did and ramped up a double thread. Sorry.

I did not insult you, only your comments. Please set the record straight.

For the record, I cannot edit you signature.

It was locked pending admins decision on what to do with it.

They told me to lock it while they decided. They deemed it necessary to split the provocative parts of the thread. I did...later...after they told me to.

If you would have emailed me i would have gladly deleted any part of it that you didn't want. As far your ability to delete your own posts; it is not my call. Maybe a little forethought prior to posting would help.

I am very eay to get along with & want no "trouble" like this. Communication with me is all that is needed.

Personal attacks on my character, heritage or anything else is not warranted or deserved.

" I did not insult you, only your comments. Please set the record straight. "

Really now - what is the difference between insulting the man directly or his position on protecting his person, dignity and / or heritage as you point out. Not much.

" For the record, I cannot edit you signature. It was locked pending admins decision on what to do with it. They told me to lock it while they decided. They deemed it necessary to split the provocative parts of the thread. I did...later...after they told me to. "

You are a moderator there, but you have to wait for permission to do what you already know needs to be done, especially after I had already asked that it be done? That's insane.

" If you would have emailed me i would have gladly deleted any part of it that you didn't want. As far your ability to delete your own posts; it is not my call. Maybe a little forethought prior to posting would help. "

Ken - as mentioned - I did e-mail and asked that the thread be deleted, but no one gave it a second look. Whomever collects the little piles of 1's and 0's there ignored it. And I did give it alot of forethought. I wanted to twist the guy's chain and I did, but it didn't need to stay up.

" Personal attacks on my character, heritage or anything else is not warranted or deserved. "

Jeez - if I insulted you I apologize. Like I said you are one of the good guys over there. What over the Spam thing? I like it too. Don't drink coffee though.

Guys,

I have been running dial-up bulletin boards and community-based websites for about 15 years now and never once have I seen any good come from virtual arguments. The more responses there are, the worse it gets.

I would absolutely concur with that statement, which is the main reason that I stopped actively moderating at www.subguns.com some time ago. I'm still have moderator access, but I've stepped aside basically to let a younger bunch with the time and energy to do the daily grind.

Just for fun, check it out. Go to the " Sword Board " link and you will find issues being discussed - and argued there - that make the ones at the FTE site look like simple child's play. Some may make the hair on the back of your neck crawl, but it's pretty tame now compared to what it used to be like.

Have a great day and your comments are appreciated.

spartan, If you care, I read the other sites post the day this all went down. I agree with you in the fact you, as I have seen here, were trying to help the man. He did get a little cocky when he thought he had all the answers, but I did see him post a new one that read vibration at 82 mph. If he just would have listened to you. At the same time both of you got alittle out of hand and should have toned it down. With that said I hope take you still post cause ever post I can use to help in building my X the way I want it with out the costly oop's. I do have alot of questions with what I want to do must of my questions are answered here but I know there wil be more. Yhanks for your knowledge spartan.
