I just got the new Joe Cocker album, “The Ultimate Collection.” from work at Universal and I had heard of him but never connected him with his songs. After listening to it I was like, “Oh, I know that song. And that one. And that one.” I realized I knew at least half the songs.
It’s a great collection of his hits from his 30+ year career. I know you all know these ones: “With A Little Help From My Friends” (the theme to Wonder Years), "You Are So Beautiful", "Up Where We Belong" from Officer and a Gentleman, "Unchain My Heart", "When The Night Comes" and “First We Take Manhattan.” I love that the CD features some great guests: Jimmy Page, Jimmy Cliff, Billy Preston, and Randy Newman.
Check out this live footage and it is a must see. Very vintage.

On the music note...for those of you good ol' boys like JohnBoy down in Texas, "She Thinks My Tractor is Sexy" is a classic in the making by Kenny Chesney. For those of you who haven't heard it, you can tell by the song title that the lyrics are nothing short of hilarious.

Whoa there E !!!
Just cuz I'm in this hare Texus does NOT mean I have Cow "dung" between my toes !!!
I was RAISED on Joe Cocker... saw him live with the Maddogs and Englishmen @ the Warehouse on tchoupitoulas street in New Orealns...
I think he opened for this small unknown group called The Byrds !!!!
HAD not heard of him and we ALMOST forgot who was headlining he blew us away so much...
"What the HEY is WRONG with that guy ?" but he sure could get it done !!!
Then this REALLY weird flute playing dude that stood on one leg while playing showed up...
NEVER heard of THEM either.... but MAN thay could play...
It was Jetrho Tull !!!
Need;ess to say, I'm probably dating myself... but heard ALL the super groups there during the 70's !
