Anyone ever thought of the possibility of changing out a V10 for a PSD. There are several salvage dealers in my area that sometimes come up with a late model PSD. Can it be done? |

Theboatshopinc,
I have done engine swaps, rebuilt , build street rods and in my humble opinion your best outcome would be to buy a PSD vehicle. Consider rear axle ratio, different fuel system, added weight will affect suspension parts, Exhaust is totally different, PSD uses a different auto transmission. I investigated doing such a swap on a prestine 1996 Bronco but decided to put a Lightning S/C on it and was happy until I could get a V-10 Excursion.

I just thought it might be a cheaper alternative to purchasing another X, I bought mine damaged and rebuilt it very reasonable. Thanks for the info. |

Ummm. the 7.3 and the V10 use the same 4R100. Maybe there are mounting differences??

Is the bellhousing the same on the 4R100 for the 7.3 and V10? I know that it wasn't the case for 460's and 351's that mated up to an E4OD on the mid-90's F350s.
I would defintely buy a used PSD instead of attempting a swap. Just the nightmare of electronics alone justifies the additional upfront cost of buying a PSD rather than a wrecked vehicle.
