Hey Guys,
I'm getting some light (to moderate) vibration under moderate braking at (and above) about 50 MPH. The vibration can be felt in the steering wheel specifically and generally the truck vibrates slightly...no big deal as of yet..but...
Front brake rotors need turning? It's an '01 PSD X, stock, with about 40,000 miles.
I had ceramic brake pads installed a few months ago...just FYI.
Any thoughts???
Thx.

Check the torque - MY experience is that improper torque is what kills rotors on these beast and turnng them is a stop gap at best...
should be about 150 to 155 ftlb and all the same torque...
and should be "cross tightened" --- u know do one a bit... then go to the opposite a bit, then to another a bit, etc... etc... until you finally reach what it should be...

JohnBoy,
Cool...thx for info. I'll give this to my brake guy, but I guess it's your opinion that my rotors are getting warped, regardless of what the torques are at this time???
Sure feels like it to me.
Thx.

All I can state is MY experience... which others may refute...
but they turned my rotors twice on my new X in < than 12K miles...
have had the new ones on for 8K miles now and no probs when I "strongly suggested" they use the proper torque !
and Dave may be right about the 148... the KEY is to be consistent on alll lugs...

That is the exact description of warped rotors. They will need to be turned to fix the warping issue. Each time you have your tires rotated or your brakes done, make sure they are properly torquing down the lug nuts as mentioned above. I use a torque wrench and tigthen all of mine to 150 ft-lbs. No problems since doing this. Just make sure they aren't using an impact wrench to tighten them...it's fine for spinning the lug nuts back on, but not accurate enough to get them all equally tight.
