I have a 2000 Excursion with the Powerstroke. It has 120,000 miles on it. I have a little play in the steering box is there a special way to make the adjustment on the steering box?
Also it has a 6 disk CD changer in the console but the CD cassette is missing. Does anyone know the part number for the cassette or have one for sale.
Thanks

Hi Mike...
the 6 cd changer does not come with a cassette player...

and yes, there is a steering box adjustment, but I have never done it...

Mike mentioned a CD-changer cassette (in a remote changer, the cassette holds a stack of CDs) in the "console." To the best of my knowledge (which ain't saying too much), the Excursion's 6-disc changers are all in-dash styles ... no separate changer ... nor cassette. I've seen some F150 models with remote changers. Is this console-mounted changer a Ford product? Or aftermarket?

The 2000 Excursions had "remote changers". They were mounted inside the center console. I believe 2001 was the first year of the 6-disc in-dash changer. Mine had the CD changer in the center console

As far as where to buy the replacement CD "magazine" (the technical term), I would check car audio shops. Otherwise, it'd probably a good eBay item. As a last resort, I'm sure Ford could get a hold of one for a premium price.

Been in this swamp previously--evidently Ford used several different 6 magazine CD changers in 2000. The most likely found in an EX or F250/350 [remotely located in the center console] is a Clarion unit. The magazine number is

Ordered from Crutchfield.com:

Clarion CAA355 6-CD Magazine

Ordered from Radiosandmore.com:

They fit my 2000 X; Good Luck!

The 2000 had the option for the in-dash 6 disk player, or the single cd/Cassette with the changer in the center console. Mine is also in the console.... Sometimes I wish I had gotten the in-dash changer, but I can live with it.

Have you tested and confirmed that it is indeed gear box slop? Or do you just experience wander?
