As some of you might know I've been fighting a oil leak on my 6.0L PSD for a while now. Today I had the chance to take a picture of my truck with the whole PSD removed! It's a big hole! The pic is in my album.

Not for the weak hearted.

I hope to have my truck back next week. The bonus is they found the leak and I will have the Drone fix added while it in the shop. Leak free and drone free, sounds to good to be true.

Cheers

YA, I hear ya! I'm looking into the Ford arbitration policy to have Ford buy the truck back. It's less than a year old and the follow major things have been replaced or remove and corrected.

- removed tranny twices to replace many seals, included 6.0L rear main.
- replaced power steering.
- removed whole engine for upper oil pan leak.
- replaced ICP

I hate the idea that my brandnew truck has been completely reworked. I'll let you know what happen once the heart surgery is complete and they restore the front end.

Cheers

FWIW, I had the 7.3L pulled out of my X twice to replace the rear main seal before I took it to another dealership who found that the oil leak I was having was not a rear main leak at all...just a turbo pedestal seal. Make sure they fix the leak the first time!!!!

Scary pics!

Sorry to hear you had to go through the same thing..Twice.. How has the X stood up after having the 7.3 pulled?
Anything I should watch for. My concern is the 6.0L is soo new and the shop is learning as they work. This shop has only pulled one 6.0L before mine.

I tell you one thing for sure...this is the last "kick at the cat" if it still leaks any fluid after this big trouble! I never realized how much I love driving a truck until I drove a Ford Focus for 2.5 week! and counting

I guess on the bright side you could call this the biggest ZooDad mode ever!

Gen-X,

No problems since the seal was correctly replaced. Bone.dry as a matter of fact. When I first had my PSD X, I had multiple turbo pedestal o-ring problems. At the time when I had all of this work done, it had to have been one of the first "newer" 7.3s they had pulled. This was in late 2000 and early 2001, not many X's had had these types of issues yet as I had put on a lot of miles right away. Seemed like I was one of the first ones to run into these problems because the dealers were baffled.

You do appreciate the big vehicles...I always got stuck with a Contour.
