To those of you with larger exhaust; 1) Are they mainly expensive because they are stainless, and 2) If I went to a truck exhaust shop would I be able to get away with paying less?

The larger diameter pipe (4" and up) is generally less common and thus more expensive. Also, many exhaust shops will not be able to bend pipe larger than 4" in diameter. You will want to check with the exhaust shop first to see if they can do 4" exhaust and what it'd cost to have the do a custom setup for you rather than buying pre-fabbed.

I got a 3.5 to 4" turbo back (aluminized since I'm in texas and won't hit salt often) for < $325....
the stainless are a little more expensive, but a necessity for you northern types...
The issue with going to a exhaust shop is they Probably can't do all the manderel bends of 4 inch pipe, etc... and come out with a kit less than these kits....
check out www.quadzillapower.com --- he's in Ft worth close to me and where I got mine

I found a shop in town here that charges $35 per bend on 4 inch pipe. That isn't stainless or aluminized though.
The muffler is a killer too. $250ish for a 4 inch muffler.
That will be next years project.
At least I can get my tailpipe fixed. They quoted me $100 to put on a 4 inch tail pipe to replace the small piece of junk that is on there now. And that will be from just in front of the last hangar before the tail pipe.
