I think most of them have that problem. Think Ford will issue a recall? |
That recall would put the might Ford out of business | |

Warped rotors are 'mostly' solved by insuring proper lug nut torque. Ford changed the torque specs several years ago. Most garages use air guns with the torque set too high and they sock them right down instead of sequencing through them in several steps..

Ford also changed the threads on the lugs/nuts at some point since X-inception. |

I have an '04, so I assume I have the new lugs. I also bought a torque wrench to be able to keep the lug nuts torqued at 165 ft-lb after any tire rotations. With 31K on the odo, my rotors are warped so bad that the whole truck shakes when I brake from anywhere over 40 mph. I received a set of Applied Rotor Technology (ART) rotors and pads this week, and plan to put them on this Tuesday. ART rotors are one piece cast, slotted, and cryogenically treated. Their pads are ceramic. Pad (the man behind ART) confirmed the 165 ft-lb torque spec for their rotors as well, so the torque wrench will still get some use.
We're going on vacation the following weekend (watch for us on I-64, Landyot, we'll be cruising by on 9/5 ), so I'll give my impressions when I get back. |

78,000 + miles and on the SAME rotors and pads. Plus I tow a 7500lb camper. I guess its in the way you drive the truck.

I'm not know to baby a vehicle, but I don't trash it either. I tow a 40hp Kubota with the front loader and backhoe attachment on a 16' trailer about once a month, 280 miles round trip. That might have something to do with it. I also live in SW Pennsylvania, which is known for hilly roads. That might also play a factor.
I wasn't really complaining, but I do look forward to putting those rotors on just to see how they hold up. |
