I'd like to get a remote starter kit for my X. One that will not screw up my remote entry and factory alarm. Any recommendations? |

I had the Ford alarm and remote start installed in mine (they called it the Gold Package). No complaints. It may not work from as far away as others, but install was "plug and play". If you already have a factory alarm, that would be the way to go in my book. |

Oh, I didn't realize Ford offered one. How much was it, if you don't mind me asking? |

I believe I paid $359 for both alarm and remote start together, including installation. |

Maybe my description was incorrect. I don't have an alarm, just the PATS system that's on all Fords. I've seen really cheap systems that only do remote start for fuel-injected, automatic transmission vehicles. For example, Valet 551T, AutoCommand 20023, and Bulldog RS114. Is this another "get what you pay for" scenario? Will I need the PATS bypass module with these? |

I've been thinking about a VIPER791 system with remote start. It sends a signal to key fob to show vehicle is running or if alarm is activated. Also has 3 inputs for additional remote items. I would like to set it up like I had on my Z28 where the windows go up and the doors lock when you turn on alarm.

I have a Viper 550 ESP alarm with remote start. I also have the remote with 2-way communication. Let's me know if the truck is armed, running, and if the alarm goes off, the key fob beeps, too. Great for when you're out of sight from the X but still within range with the remote.
I had this installed when I first got my X in '00. Think I paid $400 or so including installation? Somewhere around there, anyway.
