Folks
I want to swap the stock exhaust from my 2000 Excursion for a dual aftermarket product. I originally wanted to go with the Flowmaster 40 (single in/dual out) straight back but the FM people are telling me that they dont make a system for a V10 gas model. A couple of the muffler shiops I contacted tell me that they can do it but it will take some custom work.
Mu question is: is this the way I want to go? or does someone have another suggestion.
Thanks for the help

Prepare to have people try to talk you out of dual'ing your V10.

Not having a V10 I can't speak directly to it...
but in general....
It depends
on what the size of your single stock system is versus what your dual system will be...
say if the stock single is 4 inches in diamater and you got to 2" duals your'e not going to help much
(other than get rid of the boat anchor restrictive stock muffler ) Which may be reason enough
but EVERY gasser vehicle (save 1) I've ever done it to, benefitted from duals...
the only one that it really wouldn't have helped was a Jeep 5.9 limited that already had a flowmaster big exhaust on it stock - great sound and great performance already so I left it as is...
Hated selling that thing even with 130K miles it was still a good looking Jeep and a rocket

I've heard some folks say the V10 just doesn't sound "right" with dual exhaust. As far as having an exhaust system custom made, you'll probably find it's often cheaper, and leaves you with an installed system versus one yet to be installed (if you ordered one). |

I just heard the Gibson and I definitely like the Flowmaster better. if has to be custom then so be it. anyone had any experience with AA Speed and custom in woodbridge, va? thats probably where I will go.

I am leaning at just a muffler since the V10 X has 3 inch stainless already. Now, If i can just find a muffler that sounds good outside but no harsh sounds inside and I'll buy it. You cant imagine how loud and crazy a muffler is till you tow a camper for a couple of hundred miles

any reason why you are not planning on dual pipes? Just curious because someone recommended this route to me as well.

Well...for one, it's a heck of a lot cheaper!
Buddy of mine has dual with FM70s on his Y2K V10. It sounds very nice.
