Hi all, I have a little problem. My driverside 2nd row seatbelt is stuck in the in position. It seems to be locked like it would during a hard braking stop/crash or pulling it all the way and returning it to the point you want it locked. I tried several forward & backward hard braking stops, over a bumpy road, and over some hills to tilt the truck back & forth thinking a catch of some sort was simply hung up and I could shake it to unlock it; still no go. The shoulder adjustment was all the up, I lowered it thinking the seatbelt was not ALL the way retracted and possibly still in the lock where you want it stage, it accepted the additional belt with no problem but will not let it back out. Never knew of a seatbelt mechanism to fail. Any ideas anybody? Thanks a bunch.

OK, due to no responses I felt I had a unique problem and decided to tackle it blind myself for I need the seatbelt for a child seat. I removed the seatbelt retractor assembly, after removal it was confirmed the belt was not twisted and it reel in a little more belt then stopped; so I know it was back ALL the way. It would still NOT release. Something internally must have failed, I can not even hold the metal bar back that prevents the reel from letting the belt out. I just thought this was odd for me and several people I spoke to have never heard of seatbelt retractor failing without being in a crash. Going to take the retractor assembly to the dealer tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Just wanted to post my findings in case another person finds themselves having a similar problem. This is what keeps forums going; people with new problem(s) and posting their finding and resolutions. Will post dealer response later. Thanks.

Wife took the seatbelt retractor assembly to the service manager, he loooked it over and said "yep it's broke". Took some numbers from it, asked if we have extended warranty, we do, he typed on the computer a little bit and said it will be here in a few days. Wife asked if this was common, he said it was not common at all but is mechanical and things do break. He has only seen about dozen in his 15 years working in the service department. So, just waiting for the new one to come in.

Be ready with $100 check-in-hand for the warranty deductible.

After not hearing from the dealer for a few days, I called them. Service manager told me he checked what type of warranty I have; found the seatbelt retractor not to be covered. He further stated even if it was, it was under the $100.00 deductable amount. Then he asks me if I want it ordered. I thought this was a rather silly question for he knew I was prepared to pay the $100.00 deductable and the knew it cost less than that anyway. Long story short, got a new seatbelt retractor to the tune of $73 and change. Installed it and all is well now.

you would think safety items as of those would have a warranty on them any way. I guess safety is only worth so much any more
