OK. I need a little help here. I want to change out my OEM shocks for the Rancho RS9000X, with the in cab controller. I called Rancho, and they say they don't have any RS9000X shocks available for Excursions built after 2002. Does anyone out there have an '03, or '04, with RS9000X shocks? If so, were they direct bolt in or was there some modification required? Also, what is the part number of the shocks you installed?

TIA,

Orf

Funny....
the suspension is EXACTLY the same ....
the used 9000 adjustables that came off a 2000 X and they;'re working fine on my 03...

I haven't studied the shock mounts on the front end of various model years, but I can vouch about the rear shock mounts not being changed since day one. You know I have been under a few Excursion rear suspensions. (I had to be very careful how I worded that last sentence.)

Don't try and order SuperDuty rear shocks, either. Not because of the lengths, but because the top mounting point on the rear Excursion shocks is different. I personally hate the design Ford came up with for this. PITA to deal with the tiny little bolts when compared to "traditional" shock mount bolts that you'd find on pickups or other fullsize Ford trucks.

For reference...

I have a 2004 4x4 EB Excursion. I just installed the 9000's (RS99266 and RS99267). I got them in a package deal with the on board ontroller. The promotion runs thru 10/31.
http://www.samsoffroad.com/samsoffroadsto/index.html had the whole deal for $289 with free shipping, best deal I found, but then again I didn't look that hard.

I have both axles set on level 3. With 295/75 BFG Dueler Revos running 60psi, it rides great. A MAJOR IMPROVEMENT over stock. (Note, mine took about 200 miles to 'break-in')

I haven't installed the controller yet. The promotion is being run by Rancho and you have to send away for the new updated controller, don't know that I will put it on, the adjusters are pretty easy to get to and I doubt I will change them enough to warrant the extra doo-dad in the cab (least that is what the wife has told me my opinion on the matter is.... )

Oh, and thanks to everyone else for the replies. I can't wait to get rid of those OEM shocks.

I had them on my X before the lift. I had a ball dialing them in. You will have fun just playing with them for at least a week or two. Every other trip i would get under the X and change the setting trying to get the perfect setting. I went to the Bilsteins cause every one swears how good they are.

Just ordered the promo set Rancho's! Totally excited to get them. Bummer on having to wait for the kit from rancho. Was hoping to do all at the same time before I travel during the holidays. Any idea how long it takes Sams to ship to you and also how long it takes from Rancho once you send in the form?

I mailed my for in last week. I'll let you know when I get them. They say "allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery".
