I picked up a copy of the latest Truck Trend mag. and on the inside cover was an ad for the new Super Duty and it's Radius Rods. The ad states they are over 39inches long, 11inches tall and 3.5inches thick, and over 29lbs. This is connected to the all-new 4X4 suspension.?!?!?!!!

Has anyone else seen or read about this new 4x4 setup. Is this part of the new coil spring in the front end for tighter turning control?!?!?

Clayton,
The radius rods attach to the front axle. They mount under the doors almost and travel forword to the axle. They look like they are made of a stamped steel. I will snap a photo of these on a new super duty. They replace the back part where the leaf spring used to be

On a front suspension with coils, they will certainly use radius rods (more commonly called radius arms). Here's an old photo from my Bronco:

Notice the large arms that connect the front axle back to the frame just underneath the driver's side. Lift manufactuers boast of larger radius arms for improved tracking and stability. The stock radius arms on this era Ford F150/Bronco were puny.

The ad that you saw -- was it for aftermarket radius rods/arms, or was it a marketing ploy from Ford about their newly revised suspension on the SuperDuty lineup?

The ad was from Ford for Ford.. It was pitching there latested 4X4 setup for the SD. I'll post a pic of the ad on Friday when I have access to a scanner again.

Has anyone had first hand experience of the new 4X4 setup? It is any good? Does it drive/steer like a Ram 1500? I know, a funny comparison put the new Ram 1500 drives like a car.

Thanks
