For the past four months I have noticed that my Powerstroke has had some difficulty starting. It just seems to take awhile turning over before it finally starts...seemed like a "low battery" thing when your battery is dying. I've had the batteries checked and both are 100%! Twice during this time it would hardly start at all. It does not seem to get any better or worse, it just seems to take more time before it will finally start. It makes no difference if the engine is hot or cold; likewise with the weather. Any ideas on what this might be?

How many miles on the X? Sounds like the starter is going out. A bad starter can sound like a "low battery" thing...this just recently happened to a friends F350. I believe starters are going for about $350 nowadays on the diesels.

I was thinking it might be a ECU flash problem but given the year of your X I highly doubt it.

Is it turning over fast and just hard to start or is it slow turning over? I 'm trying to determine if it's a lack of power to the starter or the start itself? Has your check engine light come on at all?

Cheers
