My V10 uses about 1 quart of oil every 1500 -2000 miles. This certainly seems to be excessive.
I would like to take a poll and see if others are seeing excessive oil consumption.
Thanks,

Yepper, mined uses about that over a 2500-3500 mile range, however, I asked the dealer about it, and he said the same thing, its "normal"...I tried to argue about it, however, its just like beating a dead horse, he said I can bring it in, and they can look it over to see I told him and changed to running Royal Purple in it, so we will see!!

30K miles, no oil consumption. I use Motorcraft 5W20 Semi-Synthetic only. I only use 6 qts. I do not fill up to the top line on the dipstick since that would take 6.5 qts and others have filled to this level and found it to use up that oil in the 3K range.
Seems that ford goofed on the full mark since the manual says use 6qts with filter change and "DO NOT ADD" if oil is between the full and low marks.
I always check the level before I change the oil just to monitor the consumption. It is always in the same spot, exactly half way in the hash marks as when I did the oil change.
Just my experience so far. |

My V-10 uses no oil at all..I have been using Motor Craft 5w20 ever since it's first oil change. I fill it with 6.5 quarts and with almost 27k on her, I have never had to add one drop. |

I switched to 5w-30 full syn last year. Towing our 34' trailer, I used about a quart between 3,000 mile oil changes during the hottest part of the summer with some tough towing. Not at all unreasonable or unexpected I should think...

I have used Motorcraft 5W20 since new. I have over 80K miles on the beast. Never had to add any oil between oil changes. I change oil every 4K miles. Got back from trip from Mich. to Wyoming last summer and never had to add any oil. We did a lot of driving in the montains. When doing oil change I just put in 6qt. It show half way up the hash marks on the dip stick but NEVER goes below hash marks between oil changes.

I have 175,000 mi on my 2000 X v10 engine and I burn about 1 qt every 1500-2000 mi. I can't complain though, I have not had any issues with the engine. I started burning the oil around 100,000 mi. I used synthetic oil for the first 120,000 mi (every 3000 mi) and now I use semi-synthetic (every 5,000 mi). |
