Had a chance to see and drive the new Mustang GT........Very Nice. The car is setup really well:
- dual steering dampener
- Rad rods in the back
- antisway bars
-18inch wheels
- Killer sound system ($2000 upgrade)
- Retro look....to name a few!
Very Nice....Next time your at for with the X jump in one and take it for a burn!
Cheers

Looked at them at my local dealer. Very schweeeet! They are charging a $5000-$7000 premiun for a GT so for 35k, I think I'll wait a while. I am seriously considering an F250 in addition to the EX so the GT will have to wait anyway.

I will be the FIRST to admit how beautiful the new Mustang is. Every time I see it, I stare. BUT, don't you think we should expect some better items on a 2005 vehicle? You know, like independent rear suspension? Navigation? Etc. I love the new Mustang but I am just shocked that they decided to cut corners and offer a live axle with panhard bars instead of IRS. She's beautiful, though!

IRS is usually reserved for the SVT Cobra...at least it was with the 2001 Cobra. Can't remember if '99 had it too...don't think so. I also can't remember if they went back to a live axle after '01. Unfortunately the next Cobra isn't due out until '07 (announced as an '08 model), from what I understand. Regardless, I think Ford purposely cuts some corners like this to make the SVT model a little "extra special."

You're completely right... SVT has to set itself apart from the Mustang. But, as I see it.... the SVT will appeal to a limited market... those that are looking for performance. So, I would think the SVT Cobra could appeal to that market with a Viper-matching 500 hp. And, the regular Mustang could appeal to EVERYBODY else... the MILLIONS of people that will buy the 05 Mustang.
I guess my opinion is this.... recent models from every manufacturer have really spoiled the consumer. Things that were elite are now common, and ordinary components are looked down upon. So, as a 2005 model year, I am shocked that Ford would reveal an entirelly new, and brilliantly-designed Mustang on top of a 1970's live-axle platform with minor panhard bar improvements. A 1990's Mustang, yes... but a 2005? NO WAY!

Ah, another night owl prowling in the forums!
Point well taken. It'll be interesting to see how the next SVT Cobra fairs against the Vipers of the world. The last one was very impressive with the 390 HP "rating" which often meant over 400 HP at the rear wheels with simple exhaust modifications. Still not in Viper land, though. Vipers are considerably more expensive though. You could get into a Cobra in the mid 30's. A used '96 Viper still will run you in the neighborhood of 40k!
Ah, performance. I need a chip in my X again. The stock 7.3L is going to be tough this winter now that the Galaxie is in storage.

Yep.... another nightowl! hahahaha.
True... entering Viper "territory" is not only horsepower, but money. Good point.
Hey E. Long...... did you have an opinion about my last post about the 4.5" Donohoe?

I haven't done enough research on lift kits as to which I feel is better or not. But with regards to new springs vs. using factory springs, I would go with a lift that contains new front and rear springs...at least for my X. I have 128,000+ miles on mine and the springs are not what they used to be when it first rolled off the lot. However, new springs also = increased cost, so it depends on your budget as well.
From what I've read, the Danahoe Racing Edge kits are the best. No personal experience though, just general consensus that I've seen in the forums.
