On the flip side of this coin, I see it as a 2-way street.

J-Douglas, since you are an installer, you are privvy to additional information that the rest of us don't have -- like feedback from your customers that are complaining about the ProComp products. As such, I would expect/prefer to hear the reasons why people are unsatisfied about the product rather than ousting the product in the first post in the thread (the original poster had already decided on this product anyway, and was really just seeking out height recommendations). As an installer/4wd company owner, your opinion is highly valued among forum members. If one of your customers comes in into your shop for an install, do you call the other products they've installed on their vehicle "crap" that you did not install? Hopefully not, because 1.) it is offensive and 2.) you want to earn their respect (and ultimately, their business). I find this particularly frustrating when I've done research on a product, choose/install it, only to have somebody else call it crap without any further reasoning.

Joe was trying to pass on information that he had received directly from ProComp as a consumer. If it's incorrect, it's not his fault, he's helping out the forum by telling us what he heard from the source. If you know otherwise, then please inform us and instead ruin ProComp's credibility, not his. It would also further prove why or why not their products should be questioned. We all know that sometimes even the people working for manufacturers don't know everything about their own product, including product numbers.

Yes, this conversation could have been prevented with the follow-up comments being thought out on Joe's part. I've been in discussions similar to this on other sites where there was an "expert" on the subject who owned their own shop and although they were wrong, they felt that they didn't need to justify themselves or prove to me what they were trying to say simply because they owned their own business, so they must be right. This particular conversation hits a sore spot for me. I do agree that Joe's comments were rude and should have been articulated differently.

I don't want to lose any forum members over this, but like I said above, I feel that it's a two-way street. If we can just agree to disagree on something, great. But over something like part numbers, I would think that it would be easy to resolve if the actual part numbers could be listed. Then, both guys come out smelling like roses because it's ProComp's fault afterall for reporting incorrect information to one of their consumers (Joe).

J-Douglas, can you look up the product numbers in your dealer catalogs for ProComp to confirm/deny the above claims from the ProComp tech? I did some research online but wasn't able to see any specific product numbers, as they don't really list a kit on their website for the 4x4 Excursion (2WD only, for some reason).

Eric..... By reading your post, I gathered quite a bit of info about you. I realize that you're a completely fair, reasonable, and sensible guy. You responded FAIRLY on behalf of both Joe and myself. Your neutral perspective made me realize HOW this discussion got WAY off track... and, that it really has NOTHING to do with part numbers.
Let me explain......
I honestly thought Joe's comments were inappropriate. But, more than that, I was confused by them! I really thought my brief posts were harmless and not worthy of harsh ridicule.
BUT, after reading Eric's opinion, I realize that my comments came off differently than I had intended. That's a HUGE problem with writing........ it's impossible to portray voice inflection, or, even sincerity for that matter.
All this means is that I think my first post must have come off as arrogant, or smartass, or accusational. *I TRULY DID NOT MEAN TO* . In 100% honesty, I really was curious about the Superduty/Excursion suspension variances. I mentioned owning a 4wd business for six years ONLY to show that I had overlooked something so simple for SIX YEARS! It was NOT (repeat: NOT) meant to sound as though "I am smarter than you", or "I know more about lifts than you", or "you are wrong".
I was ONLY saying that I was the idiot by overlooking this ProComp detail for six years.

Regardless, here we are.
I really thought all the blame was on Joe for the rude comments. But, if Eric saw it the way he did, then my first post must have been read differently than it was written......... which is NO one's fault. That's just the nature of email and forums sometimes. I really didn't mean to imply that he was wrong.

I'll be honest and expose my weakness...........this SuperDuty/Excursion stuff is new to me because I have been a Jeep guy for so long. In fact, that was my specialty for YEARS. I could quote every part number and price and detail for any Jeep product available. BUT, not long ago, a homicide in my family forced me out of the "Jeep life" and into the more practical Excursion. So, as with everything in life.... it takes time and practice to learn. That's what I was doing when I made that comment..... I have been in the 4wd business 6 years and I've never come across the Superduty and Excursion suspension details. NOT because Joe's information is WRONG, but because I have been a Jeep guy. As for specifics about the Superduty/Excursion, I look to Joe as being the expert. He knows more about it than I do (which is why I was curious in the beginning).
This will be my last post about THIS topic. I hope the matter is closed. No harm--no foul.
Thanks for your fairness Eric, because it helped me see why I was being attacked. I really had NO clue! Sorry.

Well to get back on the subject!

The Lift is in and it came out GREAT!!!!

Totally changed the ride and stance for the better! The truck sits level!!!

I went with the PROCOMP EXCURSION 4x4 4in lift with the superlift 5 in blocks in the rear with rancho 9sk shocks with 315 75 r16 procomp all terrains.

I lost 3mpg but the feeling you get looking down on the roofs of suburban's and looking into the cabs of 18 wheeler's is priceless!

Went to lunch right after it was in and a gal was coming out and saw the truck and gasped OH MY GOD!! made my day

I dont know how to put any pics (advice)

Maybe some can help and Ill share the green machine with you all

I look forward to my next mods

Ranchhand bumpers w/winch
Full steel top rack with motorcycle rack
Custon gold ghost flames
Rock crawler wheels

Thank you all for the advice and humorous reading!

Jarrett,I was wondering where ya went for I know you would have responded asap in a better fashion than the other poster.

Another automotive forum I been a member at for 5 years well their mods aren't as generous to permit a nasty post, typically the offending post would have been deleted, the member is given a single warning and if there was another offense well the member is banned and that's it

Keep it clean, informative, mature and fun at the same time if possible

Sounds like the crackerbarrel forums

I just learned today that I need an adjustable tracbar arm thingy, supposed to help clear up steering wandering

And I've heard the term Procrap for years from other folks
