I have had the pads and rotors inspected. I have jumped on the parking brake pedal as far as I can--it was tight. The big X still moves down my driveway until it engages pin in park. Doesn't seem like a GOOD idea at all.Any suggestions?

Depending on the degree pitch of the driveway it's not going to lock like the 4 wheels would.

I always had a tough time with the parking brake on my F550.

My driveway slopes down to the street. When I park the X in the driveway facing the street, my parking brake will hold it in place even when it's in the "Drive" position. I've never had to adjust mine.

Ditto. My driveway has a little slope to it, and I always engage the parking brake while the tranny is in neutral, then when it's set, I shift into park. I do it in that order to avoid pressure on the park pawls inside the tranny.

I had to train the main driver of our Excursion/F250 on that procedure and reverse process when going into drive.

Ken,
Same here, I let the Pbrake to the pressure off the tranny.

If you stop on a hill and just throw it into park without setting the foot brake you'll notice the truck roll forward/backward a little bit, that's putting pressure on the tranny.

When you go to put it in drive you'll literally have to pull on the shifter to get it to come out of park which can be accompanied by a bang

I always put the parking brake on before I take my foot off from the brake...Hill or no Hill. I never have had a problem with any type of roll when I was on a hill.

My 2000 X parking brake works on a steep incline with a 7000 pound load behind it. Though I don't make it a habit of relying on just the parking brake.
