Greetings all,
I received a letter from the dealer I purchased my 2003 6.0. It basically states that they are looking for used 2003 Excursions and would like me to trade mine in on any 2004 or 2005 Ford. This sounds like a sales scam to me, but I've been wrong before so here I am, asking what everyone else thinks of this.
Cheers,
Michael

Michael,
I think you're right. I've never received anything like this from my dealer. Also, why are they specifically looking for 2003 Excursions? Doesn't make much sense. '04s and '05s are what they have on their lots. It's amazing what they'll try to do to get you in on buying a new vehicle. Don't feel like you have to do them any favors...you owe them nothing!!

When I had all my troubles with the 6.0L I pushed Ford into buying the X back and they where only willing to give me 1/2 of what I pay for it. The truck had only 11Km on it. It was going to cost my roughly 15K cdn to upgrade 1 model year,. Keep in mind this was after putting 12K down plus my trade-in (22K) in to my 2003 purchase. Needless to say I'm still enjoy my 2003.. |

We received two similar letters from our dealer about a year to a year and a half ago. One for our 2001 Excursion, and one for our 2002 Ranger (both purchased at the same time in April 2002). They want to get clean, low mile used vehicles for the used car lot, as well as try and sell you a new vehicle. The Excursion letter referenced the new 2004 Excursions that were just coming out, while the Ranger letter referenced the new 2004 F150 as a replacement. We’re happy with both trucks right now, so no changes planned. My wife does, however, look forward to the day when her Ranger grows up into a full size F250 Super Duty Crew cab with a diesel. Gotta say though, the small pickup is really handy when doing stuff in the yard. I can get a load of mulch, dirt, etc into places I could never get a full size truck. Beats shoveling it into a wheelbarrow and moving it by hand.

IGNORE that letter from your dealer. I have received a grand total of THREE of those exact style letters. One from Mitsubishi "wanting" my nearly-new Eclipse, one from Jeep, and one from Nissan. It is just a sales scam to get you in to buy a new vehicle. They don't care what vehicle you have, they just want to get you in to buy a new one.
